Khao

Suppers

Saturday 1st February   - 7PM - 10.30pm

When Punam first started hosting supper clubs back in 2018, it was the original concept before it was even called "khao" - A supper club all about sharing humble Gujarati food. Punam was so excited to be bring the classic Chalo Jamva supper club back to Spitalfields.

Inspired by humble Gujarati food and great British produce, Punam shared four courses that took inspiration from her rasodu / kitchen to the dining table.

Burns Night

Jack Burke, a London-based chef and writer, brought passion for produce-led cooking to Potter & Reid for a special Burns Night Supper Club. With experience honed in kitchens across Italy and France, Jack’s food is rooted in simplicity, seasonality, and incredible flavour.

For this evening, Jack took us north of the border with a menu featuring hearty Cullen Skink, haggis with neeps, tatties, and a decadent whisky cream sauce, followed by a smoked lemon posset with buttery shortbread. The Haggis was the highlight of course —it’s one of the tastiest things this fair isle produces.

It was an unforgettable celebration of Scotland’s finest.

Beijinhos

by Glut

Manolo Suarez, the talented Head of Pastry at Mountain, a Michelin-starred gem of the renowned SUPER 8 group brought a taste of Brazil to Potter & Reid! This was the ultimate hangout for anyone nostalgic for Brazil’s vibrant culture or craving its unique flavors. His killer gourmet menu took your favorite traditional dishes and gave them a modern spin. Think pão de queijo that’s lighter than air and a reimagined feijoada.

With a diverse culinary background that includes roles as Head of Production at PADELLA and Baker at E5 Bakehouse and Bread Station, Manolo has carved a niche for himself in the food world. We can’t wait to have him back again!

Sticky Pig

Supper Club

Katie Locker trained at the renowned Ballymaloe cookery school in southern Ireland, learning about food from the soil up and becoming evangelical about fresh, seasonal menus. After moving to London, she broadened her repertoire at some of the city's top catering companies and restaurants, including Bubala and Lumiere, learning about different cuisines with their unique histories and flavours.

These experiences led to setting up Sticky Pig Catering in 2020, focusing on inventive recipes, tantalising flavours and the importance of sharing these dishes around a table with loved ones.

Sticky Pig Supperclub was the first of its series meant for exactly this - relaxing with friends and family, enjoying truly soulful food. Each course was based on a memory from Katie’s time at cookery school, travelling the world or the simple pleasure of family dinners at home.

When Punam first started hosting supper clubs back in 2018, this was the original concept before they were even called "khao". A supper club all about sharing humble Gujarati food. We were so excited to have hosted the first Chalo Jamva supper club with them.

Inspired by humble Gujarati food and great British produce, they shared four courses that took inspiration from their rasodu or kitchen to the dining table. Expect something familiar but with a refreshing take. Through this supper club, Khao continues to share traditional Gujarati dishes with a fresh outlook. Each course tells a story of their journey back home to Gujarat and Mumbai, and the connection to the dishes back at home in London!

Seasons II

We are so delighted to have had Fran Currie back at Potter & Reid for another mouth-watering, plant-based Supper Club. We had a 3-course seasonal meal inspired by the very best locally-sourced seasonal British autumn produce, focusing on flavour, texture, colour and innovation. Eating vegan food doesn't need to be boring, and she showed us that vegan food is a lot more interesting that you might think.

Fran showcased her favourite dishes to eat and to cook inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean with a seasonal and modern British twist.

End of Summer Party 2023

We had a great time celebrating our End of Summer Party on Saturday 30th September to boogie away an incredible year for us at Potter & Reid. The night included a curated wine list from our favourite producers, yummy cocktails from Black Lines Cocktails (Tommy’s Spicy Margaritas & Spiced Rum….), some delicious open-fire food from our friends at Stok Grills, and banging tunes from the best @marie___guyot!

If you missed out, don’t worry as this will certainly be an annual thing!

StirfryOnTheSide x VarunLivesFood

Angie Hu (@stirfryontheside) and Varun Murali (varunlivesfood.com) teamed up for a unique South x East Asian supper club. Inspired by their cultural heritage (Chinese-Australian and Indian), Angie and Varun brought an explosion of flavours into our little café as they created playful twists to the flavours they grew up with.

Little Sambol

In July 2023, Gabriella from Little Sambol took over our kitchen for a night. Her Sri Lankan-British heritage forms the heart and soul of Little Sambol. Growing up with the vibrant tastes and aromas of her homeland, she developed an unwavering love for Sri Lankan cooking.

Guest Chef

Series

In June 2023, we hosted Dixie and Punam, two incredibly talented female chefs at Potter & Reid as part of our summer supper club series. Both women brought an incredible feast that celebrated their heritage and explored their family roots through food. Heidi Nam Knudsen (A Thousand Decisions) selected some exclusive wines from some of the leading women in winemaking to accompany each dinner. It was fabulous.

Beija

The powerful all women run lingerie brand joined forces to run a campaign around change in attitudes towards female bodies and the oversexulization of the lingerie industry. Social media posts are either rejected or later removed for “violating community guidelines” due to “Adult” or “Sexual” content. As all women ran coffee and food business we were super excited to partner with Beija. We catered canapes for 100+ guests for the evening, bubbles were provided by Pale Fox Prosecco and @theladiesmusic played banging tunes.

Khao Supper

Punam has been hosting supper clubs since June 2018 and this July we joined forces to celebrate five years of Khoa Supper at Potter & Reid. The roots of Khao Suppers lies in the story of its founder, Punam Vaja. A born and raised East Londoner, growing up with strong Gujarati influences is what drives the core of the dishes they serve. This humble celebration was intimate, a communal dining setting and a community of like minded people who enjoy tasty food.
